These are popular for road runners, considering the convenience of being able to take capsules when grabbing water at aid stations. They can also work for any athlete who just prefers to drink plain water but still needs to hit their sodium targets. Each capsule delivers 250mg of sodium so it’s easy to take in more or less sodium depending on how much water you’re drinking, ultimately matching your relative sodium concentration. We’ve seen athletes cut them into strips for easy access or tape individual capsules to gel packets.
